October 2018 | 18 11" x 8.5" illustrations for a children's book | Graphite, chalk pastels, ink and colored pencils on paper
I was commissioned to illustrate the story "The day humble Herbert became a hero" by Keisha Powell in which Herbert, a friendly dot who is set apart because of his differences and disability, scares off the other dots around him. It takes until one day for his disability to be a gift to those who fear him and he saves the day. Herbert shows everyone just how great his gifts are. I wanted to create something fun and lovable as the character Herbert is.
