January 2019 | 12 8.5" x 11" illustrations for a children's book | Graphite and colored pencils on paper
I was commissioned to illustrate the story "Orange blossom" by Keisha Powell, which is not released yet. It is the story of a young girl who is extremely intelligent, maybe a little too intelligent as it tends to get her in trouble. She gets sent to the principals office one day for making fun of a fellow student who asks an absurd question. What happens when no one believes her absurd story of a talking orange tree? I wanted to create something minimal with these illustrations that really captured the emotion and story that the main character was experiencing.
