I created this series of photographs in an attempt to show a body as a body, an object, rather than a person. Throughout my life, I have seen many deadly car accidents and with that many dead bodies. A body in a scene like that no longer has a connection or personality, it becomes frail, real, and whole. When we see people in our lives, we see the person and we see the parts. Bodies, specifically female bodies like my own, are also objectified in today's society in this similar way. The body is seen as an object, not as a person. Using these two aspects, I created these medium format exposures, some double exposures, in a way where the body is abstracted as parts of it, the head and underwear, blend smoothly into the background of this black abyss. A floating, lifeless, faceless body is what is left.
